FAQs

What is the MEDICA Range?

ELGA’s MEDICA Range is designed to support clinical diagnostic testing, by delivering high quality, compliant CLRW water to millions of lab users worldwide. To date, MEDICA has enabled billions of clinical patient tests worldwide.

What is the difference between MEDICA Pro EDI and MEDICA 150?

The new MEDICA range sees a removal of mercury UV, with the introduction of LED technology. Consumables have an improved capacity, and the EDI stack allows an extended system lifespan, in line with several major clinical analysers. There is also new software, and touch screen capability.

What is different about the UV in MEDICA 150, compared to previous MEDICA models?

MEDICA 150 uses mercury-free LED UV. With a longer lifespan than mercury UV, this helps to reduce the carbon footprint, reduces system intervention and reduces hazards associated with mercury.

What is ECO Mode?

ECO Mode is a new feature for MEDICA, for systems that are not required with constant use. ECO Mode allows a system that is not in use to have scheduled downtime (e.g. evenings, weekends etc.) and extends the lifetime of the consumables and system as a whole.

What kind of alarms does the MEDICA 150 display?

There are three levels of alarm:

  1. Critical: the system is unable to supply water
  2. Non-critical: fault detected that has not yet prevented water supply
  3. Notification: fault detected that does not impact water supply
