- What's the difference between the MEDICA 15 and MEDICA 30?
The MEDICA 15 produces up to 15 L/h of CLRW-grade water, with a typical daily volume of 120 L and a maximum of 360 L, making it ideal for labs running one or two analyzers. The MEDICA 30 doubles output to 30 L/h, with a typical daily volume of 360 L and a maximum of 720 L, suited to labs running multiple analyzers or higher-throughput workflows.
Both models have a maximum flow rate of 1.8 L/min at 1 bar, scalable reservoir capacities of 30 to 75 L, and environmentally friendly, mercury-free UV LED technology.
- What's the difference between electrodeionization (EDI) and non-EDI variants?
Both variants deliver CLRW-grade water. The electrodeionization (EDI) variant uses an EDI stack to remove significant ionic content before water reaches downstream consumables, reducing consumable change-outs and lowering long-term running costs. The non-EDI variant delivers the same water quality without the EDI stack, offering a lower upfront cost for labs with low-to-moderate throughput.

- What is ECO Mode?
ECO Mode is a new MEDICA feature for systems that do not require 24/7 operation. ECO Mode allows a system that is not in use to have scheduled downtime (e.g. evenings, weekends, etc.), extending the lifetime of the consumables and system as a whole.

Clinical laboratory reagent water (CLRW) is a water purity standard defined by the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI). It specifies strict limits on inorganics (resistivity > 10 MΩ·cm), total organic carbon (TOC < 500 ppb), bacteria (< 10 CFU/mL), and particulates.
CLRW-grade water is the recognized standard for clinical diagnostic analyzers because contaminants can interfere with test reagents and skew results. Using CLRW-grade water helps ensure accurate, reproducible diagnostic results, which clinicians rely on for patient care.
- What feedwater does the MEDICA 15/30 require?
Potable mains water is normally sufficient as feedwater, though quality can vary between countries and regions. Full feedwater specifications are listed in the product data sheet.
